Top Things to Do in Toronto This Summer: 2026 Bucket List

Top Summer Activities You Should Totally Try

If you’re spending the summer in Toronto, there are tons of activities and places worth checking out. Whether you’ve got a job, summer classes, or just a ton of free time, there’s so much to do around here.

This is my 2026 bucket list  –  maybe you’ll find something new you want to try too!

1. Go to a Jays Game at the Rogers Centre

Trust me, catching a Blue Jays game is super fun and way more exciting than it sounds. Even if you’re not a huge baseball fan, there’s something about grabbing a couple of friends, wearing your team shirt (or just something blue), and joining the crowd that makes you feel like you belong. The energy is wild, snacks are classic (hello, stadium hot dogs), and if you snag student deals for tickets, it won’t wreck your budget. It’s the kind of outing you’ll talk about all summer  –  plus, you can wander around the waterfront after the game for extra vibes.

2. Take the Ferry to the Toronto Islands

Need a break from the city? The Toronto Islands feel like a totally different world. The ferry ride is fun and cheap, and once you arrive, you can bike, play volleyball on the beach, picnic under shady trees, or just chill and people – watch. The skyline view is epic for photos, and if you’re up for a little adventure, rent a paddleboat or kayak  –  it’s hilarious, especially if you go with friends who have no idea what they’re doing. Pack snacks and sunscreen and make it a day trip you won’t forget.

3. Hit Up Summer Festivals & Events

Toronto has festivals happening pretty much every weekend in the summer, and you’d be missing out if you don’t try at least one. For example:

  1. The food at Taste of the Danforth is unreal – you can basically eat your way down the street, sampling all that Toronto’s Greek Town has to offer.
  1. The Toronto Caribbean Carnival is wild with costumes, music, and dancing (even if you just want to watch, it’s a blast).
  1. The FIFA World Cup is coming to Toronto this summer! Match tickets might be pricey, but there will be countless watch parties and a real buzz all around town.

These events are the best way to taste new foods, listen to different music, and meet tons of new people. Go with your crew or go solo and make friends as you wander.

4. Wander St. Lawrence Market & Kensington Market

On weekends, I like to wander through St. Lawrence Market and grab random snacks, like fresh bagels or local cheese, then head to Kensington Market for vintage stores and murals. There are always street performers, cool art, and the most eclectic shops. It’s cheap and fun, and you’ll see some pretty cool stuff – plus, you never know what you’ll find, from thrift treasures to fresh fruit smoothies. If you’re into photography, Kensington Market is perfect for snapping colourful pics.

5. Hang Out at Trinity Bellwoods Park

If you just want to chill, Trinity Bellwoods is perfect. Bring a blanket, maybe a frisbee or a book, and just vibe out on the grass with everyone else. There’s always groups playing music, people galivanting with their dogs, and sometimes pop-up markets or yoga classes if you’re into that. It’s a great spot to relax, catch up with friends, and just enjoy the sunshine. I love heading there for spontaneous picnics or just to people-watch on a lazy afternoon.

6. Check Out Art & Culture Spots

The AGO and ROM are actually pretty cool, and they offer discounts for students, so it doesn’t have to be expensive. Some nights are free, so look out for those and plan a group trip. Whether you’re into paintings, dinosaurs, or funky sculptures, you’ll find something interesting. It’s a good way to escape the heat and enjoy some culture, and honestly, it makes for a great date or group outing. Plus, the gift shops are full of quirky souvenirs.

7. A Day Out in Nature

If you’re in need of a city-break, try heading to Scarborough Bluffs or Rouge Park. They’re not far, and you’ll get tue fresh air and peace you can’t find downtown. The views from the Bluffs are next level (especially at sunset), and Rouge Park’s trails are awesome for hiking or just wandering. These spots are perfect for clearing your head, getting some exercise, and just hanging out in nature. I always feel better after a hike – even if I end up getting a little lost!

8. Eat Out on Patios

Toronto’s patios are everywhere, and summer is obviously patio season. Visit some of the city’s must-try brunch spots or late-night poutine (it’s messy, but totally worth it). There are lots of places with cheap menus and nice views, which are perfect for hanging out with friends. Patio hopping is a thing, so grab some pals and enjoy the weather. If you’re out late, some patios have live music or trivia nights, which is always fun and lively.

9. Watch Outdoor Movies

There are free movie nights in parks all over the city, and honestly, it’s one of my favourite summer traditions. Bring snacks, a blanket, and invite your friends. You can watch old classics or new releases under the stars; it’s a chill, low-pressure way to hang out without spending much. Sometimes, local food trucks show up, so you get bonus snacks. It’s the perfect way to wrap up a busy day.

10. Try the CN Tower EdgeWalk (If You’re Brave)

Okay, this one’s pricey, but if you’re feeling bold and want to do something crazy, the EdgeWalk at the CN Tower is insane. You’re literally walking outside the CN Tower waaaay up high, strapped in, and staring at the whole city below. It’s terrifying and awesome at the same time, and you’ll get some epic photos. If you pull it off, you’ll have the best story to tell when classes start again.

Let’s Go Summer 2026!

So yeah, that’s my list! Honestly, just try anything you haven’t done yet. Toronto’s awesome in the summer and you’ll make tons of memories.
