How It All Began

In 2010, we asked a simple question: why doesn’t Toronto have world-class student housing? We’d seen what was being built in the UK, the U.S., and Australia—residences that felt vibrant, supportive, and truly student-centered. We knew students here deserved the same. Six years later, after a lot of planning, research, and assembling the right team, we broke ground on HOEM on Jarvis.

More Than a Residence

From the start, we knew HOEM had to be more than a beautiful building. It had to feel like home. That’s why we created HOEM Management Inc.—to run our communities with care, intention, and a deep understanding of student life. We believe residence should be a place where students feel safe to be themselves, where friendships are formed, and where wellbeing is always a priority.

Community Comes First

Everything we do is built around belonging. Whether you’re moving from across the city or across the world, HOEM is a space to connect, be yourself, and grow. Our team includes people who’ve spent their careers in student life, residence operations, and hospitality. We’ve lived in residence ourselves, and we know how much this time matters.

Since opening in 2018, HOEM has supported students from Toronto’s top institutions—including Toronto Metropolitan University and the University of Toronto—with a living experience that’s designed to complement student life. From our professional on-site team to our vibrant events and welcoming community, everything at HOEM is built to help students feel safe, supported, and right at home.

A Safe and Supportive Space

The safety and security of our residents is our top priority. We provide 24/7 front desk staff and on-site security, secure keycard access, and a professional team dedicated to creating a safe, supportive environment. Students also have access to on-site mental health and wellness support, so there’s always someone to turn to. From move-in day onward, our focus is on helping every resident feel safe, cared for, and able to thrive—academically, socially, and personally.

Still Growing

Opening in Fall 2027, HOEM on Sherbourne brings everything students love about Jarvis to a brand-new address. Same heart, same energy, even more room to connect, thrive, and make unforgettable memories. We’re counting down the days!
