Checking In
On Move-In Day
When you arrive during your assigned time on your move-in date, we ask that you head south on Mutual Street from Dundas Street and then enter the driveway behind HOEM. Look for the big cow mural! The driveway is located next to our neighbours at 77 Mutual Street, so it might be easier to plug that address into your GPS. There will be lots of volunteers directing you, so please follow their directions to help keep the flow of traffic smooth!
You will be directed to one of the unloading zones at the back of the building or in our underground parking garage with the help of our volunteers. Once you’ve unloaded at HOEM, we ask that the driver proceed to find paid parking off-site (see the parking map below for some nearby spots!). Unfortunately we are not able to accommodate parking at the building during move-in.
In order to minimize the amount of people in the building on move-in day, we ask that you arrive during your specified time, and that you limit it to 2 people with you to help you unload and move-in.
If you have difficulty finding the entrance to the laneway behind the building, please call the HOEM Services Desk at (416)-512-2273 and the HOEM team will guide you.
Common Questions about Move-In
How can I access the Internet?
When you move in you’ll get Wi-Fi login credentials specific to your room. Need a wired connection? In your bedroom there’s also an ethernet port that you can use to connect.
Can I bring a fridge/microwave?
You don’t need to! HOEM has full kitchens in every suite, including a refrigerator and microwave. If you’d still like to bring a mini fridge, however, there will be a $40, $80, or $120 non-refundable charge for a 1-, 2-, or 3-semester agreement respectively in order to cover the cost of utilities.
Can I bring my bike?
Yes! We have a ton of free bike parking at HOEM. Complete the Bike Parking Registration on the HOEM Portal under the “Resources” tab to get your bike registered in advance.
Is there parking at HOEM?
Monthly parking is available to residents at HOEM for an additional fee. To apply for parking, submit the application on your HOEM Portal under the “Resources” tab in advance. Monthly parking starts after August 25th as it is unavailable during move-in weekend.
Having guests?
We can’t wait for you to show off your new HOEM to friends and family! You’re allowed to have guests in your suite as long as you follow the Guest Policy and it’s okay with your suitemates. Guests will need to have valid photo ID and check-in at the HOEM Services Desk.
I have some stuff I want to mail to the building. Can I send it before I arrive?
We’re getting the building in tip-top shape for you so we unfortunately are unable to store belongings in your room or anywhere in the building prior to your arrival. But there are tons of stores nearby if you need something while you wait for your package to arrive after moving in!
